Welcome to Neighborhood 3
Neighborhood 3 is one of the first neighborhoods
constructed in Sun City in 1996. These were the hardy pioneers who bought into the dream that is
Sun City when it consisted of posters, diagrams, maps and mud. None of the amenities were completed
yet and many had to chose their lots wearing boots and hardhats. The design center was a trailer.
The entire community was able to meet at the Pavilion for potlucks and socials. These residents are
responsible for the founding of many of the Chartered Clubs, the Neighborhood Reps Organization and
the Block Captain concept. In the beginning Block Captains were Watch Coordinators who worked in
conjunction with the COPS.
Neighborhood 3 is one of the larger
neighborhoods with 245 rooftops spread over 12 streets and cul-de-sacs. This tree shaded
established neighborhood is home to many clubs, coffee groups, dinner groups, bridge groups and
social networks organized on a block basis. Each year the entire neighborhood enjoys a dinner and
Social, "It's Not Summer Yet" party with food and entertainment to welcome the end of cool weather
and the beginning of summer.
Neighborhood Representative is Fran Sanders and
the Alternate is Mary Ann Porcher. They replaced Martha Knight and Jackie Cuozzo. There are
approximately fifteen Block Captains who attend to the needs of their own neighbors and forward
communications from the Neighborhood Reps Organization. The
neighborhood map can be found here.
