Think About It!

Submitted by Phyllis Graves, Resident

Becoming a member of the Sun City CA Communications Committee has been a very positive experience for me.  I've always been interested in learning about the our local self-governing process, and doing whatever I can to help maintain our great Sun City lifestyle.  When I made the decision to apply, it was easy to fill out the necessary form.  My interview with the Nominating Committee was  both enjoyable and educational. Our busy  committee  welcomes  new members  and non-member resident volunteers who can lend a hand.  It's rewarding to work with these enthusiastic and dedicated Sun City residents  who are giving their time and effort for the future of our community.

Let's go out to the Ballgame!

August 19, 6 p.m., Del Webb Softball Field

Submitted by Roger Groh, President, Softball Club

The Sun City Texas Softball Club has an interesting event coming up on Thursday August 19, 2010.  The Softball Club will be hosting some members of the Texas Women's Softball team at our new Del Webb Field.  Members of the Softball Club will gather with the Texas Softball Team members about 6:00 p.m. An exhibition game is expected to ensue.

The Texas team will only be bringing eight players and will be splitting up among SCT teams.  Like a couple of years ago when they visited the SCT Softball Club in Georgetown they will put four players on each team.  The reason they are only bringing eight players and splitting up to join SCT teams is because under NCAA rules they are only allowed a specified number of practice games a year and they don't want this to be considered a practice game for them.

They will be playing our Sr. slow pitch rules.  By having the women splitting up to join our teams will provide more interaction and enhance the opportunity for us get to know them better.  This is a community outreach event for the Texas Women's Softball team and spectators would certainly be welcome.  It should be fun event for all.

Common Area Turf

Submitted by Carlton Mathis, Water Management

To quote Samuel T. Coleridge, “Summer has set in with its usual severity.” an understatement for this August perhaps. Due to the exceptional temperatures and arid conditions this season affords, we are experiencing dry spots in our common area turf along the boulevards. To combat this we have begun irrigating those stressed areas during the daytime, outside our regular watering window. Please bear with us until we have returned the grass to a more supple state, through our efforts or those of climate change.
