Question
Answer
Are there shortcuts for navigating around the Portal? Usually clicking on the Bluebonnet logo in the upper left corner will return you to the Portal home page. On some pages you may see a horizontal list of menu words which show the path you have clicked through to get to the current page. There are referred to as "breadcrumbs", since they represent a trail of where you have been in the Portal. Clicking on any of the words will jump you to that location, again.
After I download a PDF file how do I get back into the Portal?
Use the back arrow/button on your browser's toolbar after PDF document retrieval.
I want to print a page without all the Portal formatting and graphics.
Use the "Print" link on the footer of any page
Why does the navigation bar on the left of my screen seem to change on some pages?
Portal Microsites (clubs, groups, committees, etc.) each have unique navigation, suited to their needs.
Sometimes information on my screen seems not to be the most current for today.
Pressing Shift+Refresh (Refresh is on the Browser toolbar) will clear your web browser of cached (or stale) pages.
Navigating around the Portal seems very complicated. I just want to find a specific topic.
Use the Site Map or the Search facility to find what you are looking for.
How can I download a PDF or MSWord file to my desktop? For Internet Explorer, place your cursor over the link, right click your mouse and, from the menu that appears, choose "Save Target As".  For other browsers, the choice when you right click may read something different, but the idea is still the same.  Find the appropriate entry from the menu.
