The Sun City amateur Radio Society (SCARS) is a chartered club of Sun City Texas
whose members are interested in amateur ("ham") radio. Many of SCARS members
are Federally Licensed Radio Operators (called "hams"), but you are not required to be a licensed
operator to join SCARS. We provide many opportunities to share information about amateur
radio. If you click the
Calendar menu item on the left portion of this page you will see a list of the
meetings that are planned.
Our Wed Coffee meetings will now be held at The Oaks from 7:30 AM till 9AM
(Bring your Breakfast as Caddy Shack does not open until 9AM)
and Friday Coffee will be at What a Burger on the I-35 frontage road, just south of
Williams Drive.
at 8:00 a.m. Listen to the SCARS Repeater on the frequency outlined below for
any last minute changes as to where we will meet. We will also update the info
here from time to time so please re-visit our site for up to date info.
We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in room 1 of the Activities
Center for a business meeting. We have two field days per year, one in the spring, and
one in the fall, usually at the pavillion, where we test different types of equipment. SCARS
also provides communitation for the Red Poppy Bicycle Ride, held in late April each year, and SCARS
members assist other local clubs in providing communication in other local events.

The club also maintains a repeater in Sun City on a frequency of
441.625 MHz, pl tone 103.5. If
you are a licensed radio operator and you have a radio that operates on this frequency, please
call in!
