Woodworkers

The Sun City Texas Woodshop is a great place to "make sawdust" and
make new friends with common woodworking interests.
The Woodworkers Club offers monthly Safety Training classes that all
new members need to attend before they can use the Woodshop. Call (512/868-9663) or visit the
Woodshop to find out date and time of the next session.
We have a very active Special Interest Group (SIG) of wood carvers. Other groups make
wonderful wooden models and do wood turning projects.
We occasionally receive telephone calls asking if we offer furniture repairs. Well, yes, we
do have several members who are willing to handle most repairs for Sun City residents only. We do
not pick up and deliver. We are a non-profit organization and do not charge for these repair
services, however, we do accept donations to the Club for our work. These donations are used to
help fund the expenses of our annual Christmas Toys for Tots and Camp Discovery program.
According to the last figures, it appears we will be able to
contribute about 1,000 wooden toys for next Christmas to several local groups including the Marine
Corps Toys for Tots, the Caring Place, Georgetown Blue Santa, and the Shriners’ Hospitals.
Our most recent child oriented project...developing wood craft projects for the American
Cancer Society's Camp Discovery. Camp Discovery is an annual camp for children diagnosed with
cancer. The Woodworkers Club is pleased to be able to join in this very worthwhile
endeavor.
A sincere "thanks" to the loyal members who donate their time to
work on both of these projects.
We have available at the Shop Canasta card holders, wooden toys, step stools, and Mah Jong
chip holders. The money donated for these also goes to the Toys for Tots and the Camp Discovery
programs.
The Woodshop is located on Sun City Blvd diagonally across from the
Fire Station and is available for visitor tours during regular open hours of 8:30 am to 4:00 pm,
Monday through Friday as well as 8:30 am to noon on Saturday morning.
