The Stained Glass Club of Sun City was founded as a charter club in September 1999
with a mission to provide stained glass enthusiasts and beginners a place to gather, work, and
learn from each other. Since that time, the club has grown to a full studio that is open to the
public five days week, Monday through Friday 9:00- 4:00 pm and also to the members evenings and
weekends. We have three types of grinders, several glass saws and two new kilns.
All residents are welcome to drop by the studio to see the work that is being done by both
advanced artisans and beginners. Club meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month at 3:00 pm
and we meet in the Texas Room in the ballroom area. Residents are also welcome to become members of
the club. Most people who wish to join the club have not previously worked with stained glass.
Therefore, participation in the orientation class that provides basic stained glass skills is
required before joining the club. This class meets for six sessions over a three week period and is
offered once a quarter. For the class, the club loans all of the necessary tools to make the first
project and provides lots of support from the club members. We do not have a waiting list for the
orientation class, watch for the announcement of the classes in the Sun Rays and coming soon on
this website. As soon as the Sun Rays is delivered the class is open to registration. This is on a
First come, First Served basis and it fills fast.
Members wishing to increase their stained glass skills have a variety of classes available
for them. These classes including training in different stained glass processes. We also have added
classes in Warm Glass (fusing and slumping).
