About the
Dulcimers:
We are a group of people with varying abilities and musical
backgrounds who enjoy making music together. We play mostly folk tunes, but
other music will sneak in here and there. Our group consists mainly of dulcimer
players but we have a bass player, two or three guitars, some harmonicas, spoons, and what ever
else fits into our group. Everyone is welcome, we have lots of fun making music
together. We are an informal and friendly group; visitors are always welcome.
We play for nursing homes, the Sun City Special Friends Group and
occasionally for other Sun City Clubs. We also play at the Sun City Farmer's Market whenever
time and weather permit.
Inexpensive dulcimer workshops are offered 2 or 3 times a year with
guest artists as teachers. We coordinate travel plans to dulcimer festivals so that members
experience the wider world of dulcimer playing.
About three times a year a course in beginning dulcimer is offered at
no cost. A dulcimer is the only requirement. Lessons are taught at the home of Jeanne
Lubey.
